Empowering Special Education Needs

Co-Chair

Holly resides in downtown Plymouth with her husband and three children, ages 18, 10 and 7. Holly is entering her 6th year of homeschooling her 10 year old son, who requires special education. Although she never envisioned herself in this role, she has found the experience to be rewarding and enlightening. In conjunction with his homeschool plan, her son receives his IEP services through Plymouth Public School System. A model that has worked very well. She is passionate about serving on the SEPAC to work with parents to advise on special education within the Plymouth School District. This will be her 4th year serving as a board member.

Co-Chair

April has been a Plymouth resident for over 20 years and is a proud mother of three, as well as the guardian of her 7-year-old grandson. She owns Ready, Set, Grow, a local family child care program, and has over 25 years of experience in early childhood education.

After navigating the IEP process for her grandson, April joined the SEPAC board to stay involved and help other families better understand and access Special Education services.

She is especially passionate about advocating for the social-emotional well-being of all children and believes that feeling safe and supported is essential for learning and growth.

Community Development

Shandi is currently pursuing a degree in Psychology and Disability Studies, with a strong interest in supporting students and families in the public school system. Her experiences as both a parent and student have deepened her understanding of how children learn, communicate, and experience the world.

As a mom of three, she has firsthand experience navigating special education services and supporting her son through his learning and developmental journey, shaping her appreciation for collaboration, open communication, and recognizing each child as an individual.

In her role as Community Development Chair for Plymouth SEPAC, Shandi hopes to strengthen connections among families, educators, community organizations, and local resources. She is especially passionate about inclusion and making information and resources more accessible to the Plymouth community. She believes that curiosity, empathy, and a willingness to learn from perspectives different from our own can go a long way in building a more inclusive community for all children and families.

Treasurer

Stephanie is a mother of three boys attending Plymouth Public Schools, each on a different educational journey. One is transitioning from an IEP to a 504 plan in an inclusion classroom, another has an IEP and is part of the ILC program, and her youngest is beginning his journey as a peer at Plymouth Early Childhood Center South.

Alongside raising her children and helping run her family business, Stephanie is an artist and designer by trade and an advocate for Duchenne muscular dystrophy and rare disease.

She joined SEPAC to advocate for students and families and help the district better understand and support children of all abilities. Stephanie believes parents are an essential part of creating meaningful change because no one knows their children better than they do.

She hopes to help strengthen the connection between families and schools by sharing experiences, listening to other families, and helping ensure parent voices are heard. For Stephanie, being part of the community and making a difference—even in small ways—is deeply meaningful.
